Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu: The Briadeeswarar temple, or Brihadishvara temple is an ancient Hindu temple that is dedicated to deity Shiva, that dates back to the 11th century. Here a view from the back of the monolithinc seated bull, in the Nandi mandapam, on the background of a tall gopuram (temple gateway). This is the enlargement of the scan of a slide taken in July-August, 1996.
