Giannutri, Argentario: A Grottone (big cavern) against the background of the sea 2)

Giannutri is an island near the promontory of Argentario, in the province of Grosseto, in Toscana. Among the island’s landmarks are the Grottoni (the big caverns). This one makes an impressive arc of rocks against the background of the sea. The photo is taken a sunny summer day and the sea is calm, of an intense dark blue colour. The yellowish of some dry vegetation in foreground, the dark green of some typical Mediterranean brush, and the more clear grey of the other rocks, that somewhere appear rose coloured, too, enhances the dark grey of this majestic natural arc, in the semidarkness (July, 2012).
