Near Assisi: Santa Maria degli Angeli, A view of the Twenty-Six Spouts fountain.

Description

Santa Maria degli Angeli (Saint Maria of the Angels) is a village at the bottom of the hill where is located Assisi, that has the same name as its well known cathedral. This is a view in perspective of the Fontana delle Ventisei Cannelle (Twenty-Six Spouts fountain), on a cathedral’s side, with some of the spouts and the water that falls in the underlying marble basin. The basin is decorated with emblems of the Medici family, to who is due the fountain, some of which are clearly visible. This is an enlargement of part of the original image (August, 2011).
