Kanchipuram, 1996: The entrance to the Varadaraja Perumal temple.

Description

In Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the beautiful entrance to the ancient Varadaraja Perumal temple, a Hindu temple that is dedicated to deity Vishnu, with some people, in a typical, suggestive and colorful view of Tamil Nadu life in the ’90 of last century. The temple, with its Gopuram (temple tower), is an example of Dravidian architecture, too. Please note that this temple – as other ones in the same album- was restored and in particular repainted in the last years. This is the enlargement of part of the scan of a slide taken in July-August, 1996.
