Giannutri, Argentario: A split of the ground in the region of the Grottoni (big caverns)

Giannutri is an island near the promontory of Argentario, in the province of Grosseto, in Toscana. Among the island’s landmarks are the Grottoni (the big caverns). This is a view taken in the region where they are located, that attempts to make evident the possible depth of the typical splits in the ground. This one is partially covered by reddish terrain that contrasts with the dark green of the vegetation on the bottom. There is a small black backpack in the top left part of the photo that can be used for comparison (July, 2012).
